Backyard Circus at Texas State Fair 2013

When I first saw the Backyard circus a few years ago, I remember the older man who was the master of ceremonies.  He had a unique flair and gift with children.  This year, a nice lady was the master of ceremonies, but the circus didn't quite have the sparkle that I remembered from past years with the older gentleman.

The Backyard circus starts out with the human cannonball(s) being chosen and costumed.  Then, the tight rope walker, lions, tigers, lion tamer, tiger tamer, ballerinas, and stage hands are recruited from children in the audience.  There are costumes for all.  There is training for the performers.

The circus is fueled by everyone's imagination.  The tight rope walker climbs up and walks the rope.  The lions and tigers do amazing tricks.  The butterfly ballerinas are fluttery and lithe.  The human cannonball shoots through the crowd, to be caught and returned to the stage (albeit sometimes taller).

It is a good performance, but I remembered it to be much more special under the direction of the original master of ceremonies
